USA Today has picked The Maui Cookie Lady in Makawao as one of the finalists for the Best Cookie Shop in the USA.

Fans everywhere are invited to cast their vote daily until June 9.

“Winning this category would mean that Maui is home to the ‘Best Cookie Shop’ in the U.S. — a title that our entire team would be honored and deeply humbled to hold,” said founder Mitzi Toro.

Founded in 2012 by Toro and her husband Joey as a fundraiser to thank local nurses for caring for her late father, The Maui Cookie Lady has grown from a farmer’s market stand into a cookie of national acclaim ranked seventh in Bon Appetit.

It earned shoutouts from stars like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Ludacris.

Bestsellers include the White Chunk Mac Nut, featuring Maui-grown macadamia nuts and Hawaiian sea salt, and Da Half Baked, an 8-ounce indulgence stuffed with Reese’s, Snickers, and Oreos.
