One person displaced following house fire in Wailuku

A fire destroyed a home on Malaihi Road in Wailuku on Sunday.

No injuries were reported, but one person was displaced due to the blaze, according to the Maui Fire Department.

The fire was reported at 7:28 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters arrived on scene to find the single-story home fully engulfed in flames. They ran hoses to extinguish the blaze and protect neighboring structures.

According to the department, firefighters had the fire under control at 8:10 p.m. and extinguished by 9:55 p.m.

One person was checked out at the scene for injuries by paramedics. The individual was displaced by the blaze and is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The fire department reported the home was a total loss. A vehicle on the property was also damaged.
