Art exhibit features native species
The Mālama Wao Akua 2025 exhibit is on display from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday at the Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center through Nov. 7.
The exhibition features 96 works representing 88 native species of Maui, Lanai, Molokai and Kahoolawe. The artwork was created by artists of all ages including young students up to accomplished professionals. Altogether, the exhibit includes work from 47 adult artists, 15 high school students, seven middle school students and 27 elementary school students.
As part of Mālama Wao Akua, the Hui & East Maui Watershed Partnership is hosting talks with industry leaders in the conservation field at Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center. Paul Higashino of Kahoʻolawe Island Reserve Commission will offer a presentation at 4 p.m. Oct. 30.
These talks are free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required.
