Maui resident Barb Ruberto was golfing with her friend Herb Folsom on Saturday when she used a driver to hit toward the 7th hole at Maui Nui Golf Course in Kihei.

“It bounced four times, then disappeared,” Folsom recalled.

He said neither he nor Ruberto expected a hole-in-one. At 171 yards — more than a football field and a half — they could barely see the flag, let alone the cup.

But when they reached the green, they discovered the ball in the hole.

As official recognition of the feat, Maui Nui Golf Course presented Ruberto with a flag from the 7th hole.
