Akakū Upstairs will host a screening and discussion of the award-winning documentary, “Seas the Day: The Sailing Movie,” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19, followed by an in-person conversation with Maui filmmaker Ryan Luskin.

“Seas the Day” earned best documentary at the Navy Film Festival, along with other honors from IndieFEST and Impact Docs. After the screening, Luskin will talk about what it takes to create a film when the set is a moving horizon — sharing behind-the-scenes stories, insights into the production process and moments that changed his family forever.

The free screening will be at the Akakū Media Center, 333 Dairy Road, in Kahului. Seating is limited and online registration is required. For more, go to akaku.org/salons.
