On The Campaign Trail

Lawrence and Wildberger backed

The Patsy T. Mink Political Action Committee has endorsed Democrats Tina Wildberger and Tiare Lawrence for the 11th and 12 House District seats, respectively.

The 11th House district covers South Maui, and the 12th includes Upcountry, Spreckelsville and parts of Kahului.

The PAC aims to honor the late congresswoman’s legacy by helping pro-choice Democratic women gain and retain elected office.

“Tiare has demonstrated a commitment to work towards making Hawaii a stronger place to live for all people,” said Rebecca Soon, the PAC’s vice chairwoman.

Lawrence said Mink was a “true mana wahine.”

“As the first Asian-American woman and woman of color to serve on the United States Congress, she battled gender discrimination and racism from the very start,” Lawrence said. “I am proud to share her values for equality and justice, along with her determination to work for the future of Hawaii’s working families.

An announcement from Wildberger says she has exemplified Mink’s leadership qualities through running a small business and in her community involvement.
