Baha’i faith topic of film

The Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’i’s of Wailuku will host a free screening of “Dawn of the Light” at 7 p.m. Saturday at University of Hawaii Maui College, Ka Lama Room 103. The film is about the teachings of the Bab and Baha’u’liah, co-founders of the Baha’i Faith. The screening is part of the bicentennial celebration of the Bab, and the 202nd anniversary of the birth of the Baha’i Faith, Baha’u’liah.

Christ the person subject of classes

The Transformation School of Ministry at Faith in Jesus Church invites the public to earn credit toward a two-year associate degree. The next speaker will be Chris Friend from Perth, Australia. He will be teaching on the study of Christ the person and his works, hypostatic union, major theories on the atonement, and an overview of the major heresies in the person of Christ.

Classes will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 9. Degree students pay $150 a quarter, audit students pay $50 a quarter and graduates pay $30. The first, or introductory, course is free. The school will take a break in December and July. June 2020 will be the closing class for this session, followed by graduation.

Celebrate Israel Summit Wednesday

A Celebrate Israel Summit will take place Wednesday at Binhi At Ani Community Center in Kahului. Registration is at 4:30 p.m. and the event begins at 5.

Attendees will hear from influential leaders from Israel, experts on U.S.-Israeli foreign policy and front-line leaders from the Christian and Jewish communities.

Hawaiian and Israeli cultures will be highlighted through dance, music and protocol. Refreshments and dinner will be served.

The event will end with a silent auction displaying a variety goods and services.
