Private Obon services are scheduled
The Lahaina, Wailuku and Kahului Jodo Missions have all canceled their scheduled 2020 Obon festivals for this summer due to COVID-19.
No public events, including food sales, will be held.
But private Obon services for members will be held as follows:
• Lahaina Jodo Mission, July 3, 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
• Wailuku Jodo Mission, Aug. 9, 8 a.m.
• Kahului Jodo Mission, Aug. 16, 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Lahaina Jodo Mission’s service will also be streamed on YouTube live.
For those who would like to honor their ancestors and loved ones, Lahaina Jodo will have an opportunity to include names on a community lantern. All names for the community lantern must be received by Wednesday via email to lanternorder@gmail.com.
