Edward Isamu Tamayose, 90
Edward Tamayose, 90 of Haiku passed away on June 9, 2015 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on July 4, 1924 in Kuiaha, Maui. Private services were held.
He was a pineapple farmer; he worked 21 years for Libby, McNeill, & Libby then another 23 years for his family’s farm.
After he retired, he became a dedicated volunteer with local conservation organizations including the Native Hawaiian Plant Society, The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii, Sierra Club, Na Ala Hele Trails & Access System, and Haleakala National Park. He spent many years clearing non-native vegetation from Kanaha Pond Wildlife Sanctuary to benefit native, endangered waterbirds. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs and working in the garden at home.
He is survived by wife, Nancy; son, Lee; daughters, Joy, Ann, and Lisa-all of Haiku; and sisters, Sue Tamayose of Oahu, Helen Kunichika of Paia, and Rene Kurasaki of Oahu.
