Jenny Yamamoto, 87
A remembrance service for Jenny Yamamoto, who passed away on March 1, 2019, will be held at Kahului Union Church on August 8 at 11am.
She was born on Maui on September 15, 1931 and grew up on the Spreckelsville sugarcane plantation.
With the help of her beloved sister Emma, she attended Kaunoa School before graduating from Maui High School. She earned her education degree and teaching certificate at the University of Hawaii.
She was a fourth grade teacher at Wailuku Elementary School for most of her 35-year career in education.
Her greatest joy was her two grandsons.
She was predeceased by her husband, Calvin; and her sisters, Kimiko (Takita), Janice (Nakata), Emma (Katsutani); and her brothers, Harold Kitagawa and Terry Sakaitani.
Her eldest son, Don, passed after her. She is survived by her son, John and daughter in-law, Melinda; and two grandsons, Nick and Charlie; her sister, Judith Magarifuji; and many nieces and nephews.
