Benedict Nelson Souza, 83
Benedict Nelson Souza, of Wailuku, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Aug. 08, 2023.
Funeral services will be on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023 at Christ the King Church in Kahului. Family visitation at 9:30am, Public visitation at 10:00am, with mass to follow at 11:00am. Burial will be at 2:00pm at Maui Memorial Park.
Benedict was born on March 19, 1940 on Maui to Ben and Eva Souza.
He served as a mechanic for the Armed Forces for 17 years and continued as a mechanic for most of his career. He also drove student bus for Maui’s youth, as well as driving tour bus for the rest of his work years.
Benedict is survived by four sons and two daughters: Benedict “Benny” (Wend-Orrie) of Kahakuloa; Gina (Guy) of Reno, NV; Brian of Reno, NV; Bill (Vangie) of Sparks, NV; Walter of Wailuku; and Ashley (Mack) of Kahului. His siblings are Louise of Eastvale, CA and Charles of Makawao. He has 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
