Vote for Danny Pekus for House District 11
On the day The Maui News included a supplement regarding all the candidates running for office in the next election, we had a personal visit from a candidate about who we knew nothing. Danny Pekus is a candidate for the state House of Representatives and we welcomed him as a visitor. Actually, after spending time talking to him, we both said, “He is the son we wish we had.” Actually we do have one son. When he was a youngster, he often wished for a brother but never got one — not even a sister.
At our meeting, we realized Danny is not seeking this office for the title but to see what he can do for all the children of Maui. The spillover would be beneficial to children in any school in the entire state. Just read that supplement that came with The Maui News on Oct. 23. The incumbent currently representing us did not reply to the newspaper’s request to submit an interview for publication.
Danny does not limit his field of vision just to being a teacher, a volunteer coach with four different groups as well as working on such diverse areas as visitor industry, business vacancies and the economy to bring more high-tech jobs paying excellent salaries to Maui. Also read about his personal goal for our students — a high school for Kihei that we have been fighting for since Linda Lingle was mayor and then governor. Danny is just what we need to get the ball rolling!
