Programs to improve test scores were scams

The most important factor in the improvement in Hawaii on standard test scores for students has more to do with the replacement of pidgin English than any other factor. It came to me as a shock, that suddenly pidgin English had all but disappeared.

Computers, the influx of standard English speakers and mass media are responsible for the change.

The costly effort to improve education by introducing innovative programs resulted in complete failure. There were educators who, at the mention of innovation, would get chicken-skin. I can still hear them saying about a proposed program, “It’s soooooo innovating!”

No! Those programs were not innovating, they were moneymaking scams.
