This election offers excellent alternatives to status quo

This election can deliver the change Maui needs. This year there are excellent alternatives to the status quo in every political race. Some are in office working for progress but most are just getting started. Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a new result and voting for longtime incumbents and expecting improvement fits that definition.

Maui is at a tipping point. Will we continue on a path of overdevelopment without infrastructure improvement, accepting Oahu’s tourist overflow, allowing our neighborhoods to be used as investment vehicles for nonresident investors as property values spiral ever higher, or vote to stop this insanity and govern for the people, the residents of Maui?

The outer edges of Maui County, Hana, Molokai and Lanai, have long been represented by extended and generational political dynasties that go back to territorial days. Represented by politicians running unchallenged and unvoted on by most of Maui’s voters and so they represent their donors instead. This year those seats are being challenged by young, qualified, educated, hardworking candidates with histories of community service and no hidden agendas. They have the training and experience to create change while grounded with a deep connection to their homes.

Keani Rawlins-Fernandez, Shane Sinenci and Gabe Johnson are good reasons to vote for all nine council seats. They will represent all Maui Nui so every voter should make their voice heard.
