Upcountry highway maintenance incomplete

After several years of very uneven highway maintenance, the Upcountry highways are almost to a point where they not only look good but are safe as well because corners and curves now have a line of sight and are not blocked by high weeds and grass! Railings have been weed-wacked, trees trimmed, and in some places, but far from enough, some shoulders have been cleared and years of roadside debris — weeds and cut grass — cleared.

Unfortunately, the job is not complete for there still exist long sections of road where debris still comes up to and in some places covers the white line, forcing bicyclists to ride on the highway instead of inside the shoulder. Cleaning the shoulders would significantly improve safety for both bikers and drivers. Will it happen and will we see regular, consistent highway maintenance? Happy holidays.
