Why didn’t writer include name of ‘great president’?

As always, the writer of a Nov. 28 letter is pleasing “the base” and bluntly debases those of us who painstakingly attempt to engage facts, reject ideology, and ultimately seek common ground.

“They are led around by their noses,” said he, and adds a quote by a “late, great president” (?), “Socialists can provide you shelter, fill your belly with bacon and beans and, treat you when you are ill, all the things guaranteed to a prisoner or a slave!”

There is a great amount of wisdom in this statement, hard to argue! Why wouldn’t the writer credit “the great president” by naming him? Hmmmm! Let’s speculate. Is it fair to guess that he had to be from the other side of the aisle — “fiscally responsible,” that is! Was it Ronald Reagan (a good man), who took the USA from No. 1 creditor in the world to No. 1 debtor in the world? Oops! Was it George W. Bush (another decent man), who turned a surplus from the previous administration into a deficit — $5 trillion (Iraq War fiasco alone). None of the above?

The point is, it’s not what you say but what you do that defines you and both the “alt” left and right extremists are spineless and unashamedly spit on the grave of “the brave.”

Currently, our fiscally responsible Juvenile Monarch is adding trillions of dollars to the national debt, kicking the can further.
