Check the research before making own conclusions
It always amazes me that some people attend lectures just to confirm their beliefs in their core values (Letters, April 9). Here is the problem with that — current science is never the final say in facts. You see, science is always changing when facts that are repeatable are found to be in error either by finding something that wasn’t in the first theory is added and now the results are not what was expected from the results that didn’t take into account the new factor.
Example: A few years ago we were warned that consuming eggs was harmful to us, too much cholesterol. But at that time, we didn’t know there were two types of cholesterol, one good and the other bad. When that information was discovered eggs were healthy.
“New Science” is not necessarily alternative facts but they could be just “new facts.” I haven’t seen the research, but maybe grass-fed beef and bison don’t expel as much methane as corn-fed beef. Check the research before you make conclusions and push your vegan lifestyle on the rest of us. History tells us that a vegan species of Paranthropus Robustus Vegetarian died out because it had not evolved to eat meat.
