Invasive species are being sold in stores

Thanks to Lissa Fox Strohecker for her “Kia’i Moku” column on the Hawaii Biosecurity Plan and the fight against invasive species in Hawaii (The Maui News, May 12). I’d like to find out if big-box garden retailers on Maui will be stopped from selling invasive species.

I just bought a packet of Giant White Moonflower seeds from one of them, which I looked up when I got home — they are invasive. Why are we not controlling these sources of invasive species on our islands?
