A stronger infrastructure will help protect us from storms

“I’m not asking what you intend to do. I’m asking what are you doing?”

One can say natural disasters are the devil in disguise, but we can prepare to meet the devil on our own terms right here on Maui if we start now to protect against the rapidly approaching climate-related events on their way via the hurricane season.

In the past, flooding and wind damage sit at the pinnacle of our grief and loss, and the time to lessen the risk has come. The objective is clear: Build a reliable, resilient infrastructure that does not leave us subject to the mercy of the coming storm.
