Friend cooks up a big but realistic vision for Maui

My friend Ori Kopelman has cooked up a big but realistic vision for Maui. Ori and I both grew up in Michigan. You can read for free the pamphlet, or mini-book, he wrote in 2009, “Creating Mauitopia: Making Maui a Real Paradise” (updated edition at mauitopia.org).

I am a chef now who used to own a carpet cleaning business. While I love Maui, I have been picking up trash in Iao Valley and Lahaina on weekends. It is disheartening to see paradise so unbecoming.

Mauitopia asks that we each do what we love, that we eliminate all crime, and that we help take care of each other. Wouldn’t you like to live in this ideal society?
