Fire prevention draft simply states obvious
Front-page news in the Oct. 19 Maui News: “Draft report notes ways to prevent wildfires.” The article goes on to tell us that “establishing and maintaining fire and fuel breaks, cleaning around under electrical transformers and under power lines
. . . are top priorities to reduce wildfire hazard risks on Maui.”
I just hope to God that none of our tax money was spent on this draft report coming up with these suggestions, as unless you’ve been living under a rock or just landed from Mars, these suggestions couldn’t be more obvious. As a helicopter pilot for the U.S. Forest Service for nearly 15 years, I’ve worked on hundreds of wildfires and while these suggestions are certainly valid, anyone paying attention is already aware of them. Hardly worth front-page news. Come on, man.
