Don’t collapse economy by putting off tourism

Oahu has many sources of income for the island, the most prominent being the military bases that are there and the business generated because of paid servicemen and women in addition to the many government-paid civilian workers.

It is my suggestion that the outer islands be permitted to open up to tourism no later than the middle of June. Flights from the Mainland should be encouraged to return. Our economy here on Maui is very precarious because it’s main support is from tourism and kamaaina without an abundance of income coming in, are not going to go out and buy frivolous items or luxury items that tourists are known to spend their money on.

Don’t collapse our economy by putting off tourism. The trickle-down effect will be disastrous if we do!
