Why slow to resume interisland travel?
On Dr. Green (aka Hawaii’s Lt. Gov.) writes “June 1 needs to be ‘Go Time’ for restoring interisland travel.” I couldn’t agree more!
And then I read this quote from Mayor Victorino that’s hard to believe. In response to Dr. Green, he says, “There is a long checklist of protocol that needs to be established before the resumption of interisland travel without a 14-day quarantine . . . “
Knowing full well that visitor/tourist travel is the lifeblood to Maui’s economy, why hasn’t the mayor already established a resumption checklist? If it’s not simply dereliction of duty, what’s your real reason for dragging your feet, Mr. Mayor? Since when do we put more credence on the opinion of a county politician than a doctor?
