New normal based on dignity, justice, hope
President Trump solemnly swore (or affirmed) that he would faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and would, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. Well, that hasn’t happened, and it will not happen these final months of his tenure.
He has been impeached and enabled by spineless Republicans who have not shown any integrity or concern for their oaths of office since the day Trump uttered his oath. Their cavalier acquiescence to a man who is physically and mentally not well is clearly documented on the evening news and morning papers.
So, the idea that these sycophant Republicans might show a bit of dignity or put country first at the risk of drawing a mean tweet from Trump is just unthinkable to them.
We cannot return to “normal” again. Instead we must carve a “new normal” that is based on dignity, justice and hope.
Freedom and patriotism are not just words, they come at a cost and we must work every day to make those founding principles a reality. The new normal depends on our voices and votes.
