Big Beach parking lot opened by Upcountry hero

The Fourth of July weekend at Big Beach in Makena was fantastic.

Why? The parking lots there which had been closed for several months were finally open. How? Peter Sisco of Kula had enough of the problems created by the closed parking lots: congested parking on the road, crowding at the south end of Big Beach and no toilet facilities.

Sisco took the initiative to confront the problem, found a solution and got it done. This involved contacting the state Land and Natural Resources and Health departments, contracting an agreement with them and then contracting with a port-a-potty business, paying $2,000 to have the portable toilets returned so the parking lots could be reopened.

Mahalo nui loa Peter; you are the Big Beach hero and many have enjoyed the fruits of your labor.

Peter has asked for help with his expenses by asking anyone who can help to donate to port-a-potties Big Beach at gofundme.com. I plan to help.

The sad question is why did Peter have to do this? Where were Rep. Tina Wildberger and Sen. Roz Baker, who include Big Beach in their district?

Good thing we have an Upcountry hero like Peter.
