KCA hosting candidates during online forum
Every election year for as long as we can remember, the Kihei Community Association (KCA) has held candidate forums. The first one in July focuses on races in the primary election. Now, in these unique times, we are following that longstanding process, except that we are switching to an online Zoom meeting.
We feature one state race. We have confirmation from the two Democrat Party candidates for our South Maui District representative, incumbent Tina Wildberger and challenger Don Couch.
The other is the Maui County Council seat to be vacated by Riki Hokama, who “termed out” after five consecutive terms. There are three candidates vying to fill the void: Alberta DeJetley, Gabe Johnson and Matt Mano.
Watch the KCA website, www.gokihei .org for numbers and codes to participate in this first forum commencing at 6:30 p.m. on July 21.
Don’t forget your donation of nutritious nonperishable food for the Maui Food Bank. Since we had to switch to online meetings, we can’t physically collect, but we all know the need is greater than ever, so we ask anyone who watches to commit to help feeding those in need. Membership is not required to participate online either, but encouraged, with a 40 percent discount offer in effect. See www.gokihei.org to become a member or sign up for our newsletter.
