Ka Lima recognized for their excellent work
Ka Lima O Maui is the nonprofit contractor that helps adults with disabilities find meaningful employment.
Founded in 1955, it is one of Maui’s oldest nonprofit businesses and is also the island’s largest employer of the disabled.
In our opinion, these workers are the unsung heroes at the ever-popular Kamaole Parks in Kihei.
The Ka Lima O Maui teams work at many of the county parks, but it is the parks in Kihei where we have first-hand knowledge about the work they accomplish.
Their various crews with trucks, mowers and other equipment are frequently the first on-site, often well before dawn preparing to clean and maintain the grounds and restroom facilities.
We have admired their excellent work and work ethic for many years. The workforce is remarkably stable, and we have gotten to know many of their wonderful crew members. When you see them at work, please extend a kind word and shaka.
It is clear that Ka Lima O Maui takes their mission seriously and their dedication helps to keep the parks safe and comfortable for the public. A majority of the funding for this agency comes from their own work-service contracts.
Mahalo Ka Lima O Maui for the important work you do and mahalo Maui County for utilizing and supporting this excellent program.
