Safety hazard complaint to the Hawaii Department of Health
As a coordinator for a citizens COVID-19 coalition on Maui, I filed a safety hazard complaint to the Hawaii Department of Health regarding alleged hazardous conditions in the COVID-19 warm unit of the ICU, and the restriction and inadequate supply of N95 masks at Maui’s only hospital.
The complaint is sourced by medical staff employee(s) who are afraid of retaliation by their employer, Kaiser Permanente.
The complaint is posted at MauiCauses.org for public transparency. OSHA in Hawaii has stated they are unable to enforce CDC and DOH guidelines, because, unlike California, Hawaii has no law regulating aerosol transmission of a virus.
