Marriage feature wonderful, but headline doesn’t match

What a pleasure to read of the 68-year marriage of Maurice and Gloria Valoroso in The Maui News on Jan. 11.

Lives well lived! But what’s with that headline? “Like Romeo and Juliet,” indeed.

If you remember Shakespeare, the play was truly a tragedy of errors. Juliet pretended to die, Romeo didn’t get the memo, and when he found her apparently lifeless body, he took poison. She woke up, found him dead and stabbed herself. Both were still in their teens.

“Never was a story of more woe,” says the Prince of Verona in the play’s last words, “than this of Juliet and her Romeo.”

Wouldn’t wish their fate on anyone.
