Shoutout to Todd Allen for ‘miracle’ at golf course

This letter is a shoutout to Todd Allen, who was superintendent of Waiehu Municipal Golf Course in charge of maintaining and improving the course.

Before his arrival, the greens and fairways were in terrible shape. The greens were full of weeds, and the fairways plagued with weeds and dirt spots where grass refused to grow.

During his six-year tenure at the course, he replaced all 18 greens, including the practice green, and turned them into virtual carpets of emerald.

He also transformed the fairways into beautiful fairways, less weeds but no dirt spots.

In short, he was able to perform a miracle, transforming WMGC into one of the best courses on Maui.

Now, golfing at WMGC is truly a joy because of the improvements by Todd Allen.

He is no longer at the course. His skill and expertise have been recognized by others, and unfortunately for Maui County, has been lured away. He is now at Kaanapali Golf Course.

On behalf of the hundreds of golfers on Maui who call the historic course their home course, a big mahalo to Todd Allen.
