Writer claims corruption without providing evidence

The writer’s opinion that retired Chief Justice Richard Bissen should run for mayor praises actions Judge Bissen took while on the bench that earned him the respect of the community.

Nearly everyone agrees that Judge Bissen is eminently qualified to serve as mayor. However, labeling the present as “a dysfunctional and corrupt administration of politicians, attorneys and county officials” is the writer’s publicly published opinion.

He fails to identify who and what is corrupt and dysfunctional. If accusations are made publicly, the accuser should be prepared to produce evidence to support his/her accusation.

Is the writer saying all current politicians, attorneys and county officials are corrupt and dysfunctional? Might this include members of Maui County Council who the public recognizes as politicians?

Keep in mind that the Honorable Richard Bissen is also an attorney.
