Roloos out after six seasons as Baldwin football coach

July 3, 2013 - Robert Collias
Here is the breaking news story that led our website in reads since it was posted Tuesday morning (full story in Wednesday's paper and more on this story as it continues to develop):

WAILUKU - Baldwin High School football coach A.J. Roloos has resigned after six years on the job, school principal Catherine Kilborn confirmed this morning.

Roloos guided the Bears to six Maui Interscholastic Division I titles and to the semifinals of the state tournament in 2007 and 2011.

"Yes he has," Kilborn said when asked if Roloos has resigned. "It happened in the month of June. I don't know the specific date. I believe it was the latter part."

Keneke Pacheco, an assistant coach under Roloos, has been named head coach for the 2013 season.

Kilborn said "It was (Roloos') personal decision" to step down.

Roloos has been under investigation by the Department of Education for his interaction with students since February, according to a letter sent to parents by the DOE. Kilborn said the investigation is ongoing.

"I have not received a report, so typically with any kind of ongoing investigation it's conclusion comes with a report," Kilborn said. "I don't anticipate anything because I don't have the facts of the case at my hand."

Attempts to reach Roloos via phone have been unsuccessful.
