Maui goes for sweep of Lumberjacks tonight
July 15, 2013 - Robert Collias
Here is the start of our Na Koa Ikaika Maui story from today's paper:
Na Koa Ikaika Maui rallied from a three-run deficit and defeated the East Bay Lumberjacks 9-5 on Sunday at Maehara Stadium in Wai-luku, setting up a chance for a sweep of the six-game series today.
D.J. Dixon drove in five runs for Maui, which improved to 7-1 against East Bay this year.
Dixon hit an RBI single in the sixth, drove in two runs in a three-run seventh and singled in two more runs in the eighth, finishing 3-for-5.
The Lumberjacks scored four runs in the fifth to go in front 4-1.
Na Koa's Jimmy Rohan walked three times, twice with the bases loaded. Chema San-chez hit a solo homer in the fourth inning.
Byron Minnich (2-0) got two outs for the win. Chris Mobley earned his seventh save of the year. Maui starter Eri Yoshida allowed four runs in five innings.
And catch our last staffed night at the stadium — Saturday's doubleheader sweep — here.
We are set to be at the first two nights of the big series against San Rafael, Wednesday and Thursday.
