Reward offered in Colorado attempted abduction

October 29, 2013
Associated Press

AURORA, Colo. (AP) — Authorities are offering a $10,000 reward for information that could help them find a man who reportedly tried to kidnap an 8-year-old girl from her bedroom in suburban Denver.

Police say the girl screamed for help shortly after midnight Monday, and her father ran outside the family's Aurora home and found her in an alley. Police chief Dan Oates says that loud struggle may have saved her life.

The girl's grandmother, Beatrice Padilla, told The Denver Post (http://bit.ly/1auOOiB) the girl was doing her homework in her bunk bed when the suspect opened an unlocked window. Another child was in the room but was asleep.

Police are treating the case as an attempted stranger abduction, a rare crime. Investigators have been studying surveillance videos of nearby businesses and searching sex offender databases.
