Glenn Vares, 61, of Lahaina, passed away at home, with his wife at his side on March 22, 2013 under Hospice Care. He was born January 2, 1952 in Puunene, Maui.
Services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at St. Joseph Church in Makawao, with visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, Mass at 11:00 am; followed by burial at 12:00 pm at Maui Veteran's Cemetery in Makawao.
He was a consultant with Maui Catholic Charities; Manager of the Community Development Block Grant Program with the County of Maui; Radio personality with Pacific Radio Group; former police officer with Honolulu Police Department and Maui Police Department.
He served his country as a member of the United States Navy, Seals Team VI.
He was predeceased by his parents, Elsie and Thomas Vares and his daughter Celeste Vares.
He is survived by his wife Evon Rodrigues-Vares; daughter, Kimberly Vares; step-sons, John (Elsa) Kim, Barry Kim, Randal (Nalani) Rodrigues and Tony Jonah (Dalilha) Rodrigues; brother, Eric (Joan) Vares; sisters, Iris (Richard) Blessinger; Gwen Martinez, Terri (Ronnie) Kauai; grandchildren, Tani, Levi, Francis, Isaiah, Ian, Pono, Keale & Lauren Marie.
