1913 - Baseball is again looking up and a record crowd is expected at the opening game on April 20. The Sunday trains will add quite materially to the crowd at the game, and the Maui Athletic Association is looking forward to a very successful season.

1938 - Little Orphan Annie, who has been a comic strip feature for years, will make her radio debut in Hawaii over Station KGMB. Annie receives more letters every year from her army of loyal listeners than many of the richest movie stars. The program is sponsored by Ovaltine.

1988 - A March 26 collision between a pleasure boat and a humpback whale near Molokini may be the first of its kind reported in Maui waters, two local whale researchers told The Maui News yesterday. Tom Zelk confirmed that his 24-foot, 4,000-pound Sea Ray boat was struck from beneath by an adult humpback, forcing the boat up into the air.

2003 - Pfc. Jessica Lynch, the West Virginia soldier who was rescued from an Iraqi hospital Tuesday, will be presented an all-expenses-paid visit to Maui when she is able to travel. The trip for Lynch and her family is sponsored by supporters in her home state, including the Parkersburg News & Sentinel, and its sister newspaper, The Maui News.
