Rainbows take opener of series with Tigers

The University of Hawaii baseball team scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning Friday and beat Pacific 5-2 to begin a three-game series in Stockton, Calif.

Kaeo Aliviado and Marc Flores each had three hits for the Rainbows (10-29, 5-11 Big West), who won for the third time in 15 games.

The Tigers (10-30, 3-14) have lost seven straight games, and 13 of their last 14.

Lawrence Chew (2-1) earned the win with 2 1/3 innings of hitless relief.

Bryce Lombardi (0-2) took the loss.
