Changes are fine as long as they don't allow privileged corruption.
Leeway and room to conduct business and timelines are fine just as long as taxpayers are not getting ripped off by untimely projects and unaccountability.
Those in power are only voted in by the people. If they are not representing the people then their seated position should be questioned by the people.
Why is it that the County Council specifically relies on the advice of the corporation counsel in decision-making beyond the legal ramifications? It appears that the corporation counsel has way too much power and influence over the Maui County Council members. An alternative should be personal attorneys that have no ties to other business entities that would conflict with proper decision-making, not tainted by a conflict of interest.
It is the only thing that makes sense, and not the current status quo.
