Honolulu bus drivers sign 5-year contract
HONOLULU - Bus drivers in Honolulu have agreed to a five-year labor contract with Oahu Transit Services Inc.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports that drivers, clerical staff and maintenance workers in Teamsters Local 996 ratified the contract Tuesday with the company that operates TheBus.
Union secretary-treasurer Millie Downey says the member vote was overwhelming in favor of the contract.
The deal was reached June 30, the day the previous five-year deal expired.
The contract calls for a 16-month wage freeze and then a 6.4 percent pay increase during the five years of the contract.
