Colorado man dies after snorkeling
HAENA, Kauai - Officials say an 81-year-old Colorado man has died after being pulled from the water while snorkeling.
The Kauai Fire Department said Sunday that the Colorado Springs man was pulled from the water at Makua Beach, also known as Tunnels.
Witnesses said that the man had been snorkeling in calm waters Saturday about 20 to 40 feet from shore when he was spotted face down in the water. Bystanders brought him to shore and performed CPR.
They were joined by lifeguards then Hanalei firefighters, who took the man to Wilcox Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Body found along Oahu trail
HONOLULU - Authorities say a body has been discovered on an Oahu trail, and police are treating the area as a crime scene.
The Honolulu Fire Department said that the body was found Sunday afternoon along the Makapuu trail.
Police said that an investigator was sent to the area to assist firefighters.
The trail runs along the southeast coast of Oahu and offers views of the ocean and the historic Makapuu Lighthouse.
Teen driver arrested for 2 car crashes
PUHI, Kauai - Kauai police have arrested and cited a 17-year-old boy who was allegedly involved in back-to-back accidents that tied up traffic in Puhi.
The teen was cited Friday for second-degree negligent injury, not having insurance and leaving the scene of an accident.
Officials said that the first incident happened around 2:35 p.m. when the boy rear-ended a sedan on Kaumualii Highway.
The boy allegedly fled the scene and continued west on the highway before colliding with a minivan.
