UH men lose at UC Santa Barbara in five sets

The University of Hawaii men's volleyball team dropped a heartbreaker to host UC Santa Barbara on Friday.

The scores were 20-25, 25-23, 25-14, 21-25, 15-13.

Brook Sedore had 15 kills and Taylor Averill added 14 for the Rainbow Warriors (5-4, 3-3 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation).

Hawaii, ranked No. 11 by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, erased two match points before Joby Ramos' dump attempt was blocked to end the two-hour, 34-minute match. Ramos finished with 43 assists.

Evan Licht had 22 kills and Austin Kingi added 15 for the ninth-ranked Gauchos (5-2, 4-2), who beat the Rainbow Warriors in four sets on Thursday.

Hawaii will play at Cal State Northridge on Feb. 7 and 8.
