David Kaanana, Jr., 85 of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on July 25, 2014 at Hale Makua in Kahului. He was born on April 7, 1929 in Wailuku, Maui.
Visitation will be held at 8 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Hale Nanea, services over urn will begin at 10 a.m., and scattering of ashes of David and Tina Kaanana will follow at 11 a.m. outside of Hale Nanea. Family request Aloha attire and fresh flower lei only.
David was a retired fisherman for Ting Enterprise and worked on the Aku boat called the Orion. His greatest love was his pet precious, Hawaiian Crafts made by hand "Ikaika helmets", bone, wood, seeded jewelry, and working in his garden planting.
He was predeceased by his wife Augustina "Alimoot" Kaanana; and is survived by his sons, David (Cindy) Kaanana III, Oberlie (Cassie) Kaanana, Dani-Jay H. (Kim) Kaanana, and
Sonny E. Kaanana; daughters, Bernadine (Benito) Kaanana-Alconcel, Yvette-Marie M. Kaanana, Davida Rose L. Kaanana, and Cristy Kaanana; hanai son, Ron Parkhurst; hanai daughters, Jolene and Jane Rosaga; step-sons, Edward and Anthony Rosaga; step-daughters, Charlene Montalvo, Virginia Chapman, Norma Dadez, Helen Rosaga, Julie Rosaga; brothers, Oberly and George Kaanana; sister, Kuulei Williams Kaanana; 28 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
