Rainbow Wahine to face Blue Devils in first round of NCAA tournament

The University of Hawaii will face Duke in Seattle on Friday in the opening round of the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament.

The 64-team bracket was released Sunday, and UH received an at-large bid. The winner of the match between the Rainbow Wahine (21-6), making their 33rd appearance in the tournament, and Blue Devils (22-7) will play Saturday against the winner of a match between New Hampshire and third-seeded Washington.

The UH roster includes Molokai High School graduate Kalei Adolpho, who has a team-high 131 blocks this season, and Kamehameha Maui graduate Ginger Long.

Siena, which this season is led in digs by Kamehameha Maui graduate Bobbi Lin Kalama, is to face fifth-seeded Penn State on Friday in University Park, Pa.

Stanford received the No. 1 seed.

This year’s national championship match is scheduled for Dec. 20 in Oklahoma City.
