Pine Lads beat Dragons in eight-player season opener

Naighel Calderon caught three touchdown passes from Devrene Kahananui-Alejado and also ran for a score as Lanai High School beat Hana 54-2 on Saturday in Lanai City in the opening game of the Maui Interscholastic League eight-player football season.

Calderon scored all of his touchdowns in the first half. After J.J. Dulay’s 17-yard scoring run put the Pine Lads on the board, Calderon ran for a 64-yard touchdown, then caught scoring passes of 65 and 40 yards in the first quarter. He also had a 2-point conversion catch.

Calderon had a 5-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter, and Dulay scored on a 60-yard fumble return. Kahananui-Alejado ran 66 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Hana got its points on a safety in the fourth quarter.
