Seabury moves to 6-0 with win over Lahainaluna

Ryan Chang and Daniel Graziano each carded a 40 as the Seabury Hall boys golf team remained undefeated with a 165-187 victory over Lahainaluna on Saturday at Maui Country Club.

Hudson Jackson had a 42 and Kyle Sparks added a 43 for the Spartans, who improved to 6-0 in Maui Interscholastic League play. Max Flammer’s 54 was dropped.

The Lunas’ Matt Ramelb took medalist honors with a 38. Jensen Powley had a 40, Jonas Marcial carded a 53 and Josh Gutierrez had a 56 for Lahainaluna (0-6). Cory Smith’s 61 was dropped.

KAMEHAMEHA MAUI BOYS 201, KING KEKAULIKE 227

At The Dunes at Maui Lani, Dane Abarra led the way for the Warriors (2-4) with a 42.

Jordan Mitsumura fired a 45, Puniawa Vedder had a 56 and Kody Cambra had a 58 for Kamehameha Maui. Marcus Ayau’s 62 was dropped. The nonscoring alternate was Max Paschoal (76).

King Kekaulike’s scorers were Trevor Onaga (46), Alohi Dela Cruz (55), Kapono Mossman (66) and Paxti Laborde (60). Kynan Ledee had a 68 (dropped), while William Kahalekai (58) and Ian Mantupar (67) were the nonscoring alternates for Na Alii (0-6).

SEABURY HALL GIRLS 162, LAHAINALUNA 162, tie

At Kaanapali Kai Course, the Spartans and Lunas played to a rare draw.

Hannah Valencia of Lahainaluna (0-1-1) took medalist honors with a 37. Alana Duran had a 61 and Kirsten Bolucan added a 64. Ashley Langaman’s 71 was dropped.

The Spartans (1-0-1), who needed to take a nonplayer 70, got a 45 from Joy Callinan and a 47 from Kelsie Sparks.

BALDWIN GIRLS 126, MAUI HIGH 130

At Waiehu Municipal Golf Course on Thursday, the Bears (2-0) grabbed control of the MIL girls title race by completed a two-match sweep of the Sabers (0-2).

Jaelin Ishikawa had a 40 to lead Baldwin. Lana Calibuso-Kwee had a 42 and Katherine Swor carded a 44. Alexa Jackson’s 48 was dropped.

Maui High’s Reese Guzman had the low score of the day with a 36. Emily Mitra and Jillian Ped each recorded 47s.
