Bears shut out Na Alii

Aliya Harmon struck out 10 in pitching a complete-game shutout, and the Baldwin High School softball team remained undefeated with an 8-0 victory over King Kekaulike on Wednesday afternoon at Patsy Mink Field in Kahului.

Harmon allowed four hits without a walk to help the regular-season champion Bears improve to 11-0 in Maui Interscholastic League play.

Baldwin only had five hits of its own, but also drew five walks. One of the Bears’ hits was an RBI triple by Chelsea Silva that plated the first of five runs in the second inning that gave Baldwin a 6-0 lead.

Sasha Tauoune-Kekona scored two runs, including one on a passed ball in the second.

Ashley Gamble went 2-for-3 for Na Alii (2-9). Sadie Sakamoto, who took the loss in the circle, hit a double.

Baldwin closes the regular season on Friday against Kamehameha Maui, while King Kekaulike finishes up against Lahainaluna on Saturday. The MIL tournament starts Wednesday at Mink Field.
