Maui rugby teams win at North Shore tourney

Maui Rugby’s Kahului Warriors Girls U14 and Kihei Boys U12 teams won their divisions at the North Shore Rugby Challenge on Saturday on Oahu.

The Kahului Warriors, a team comprising middle-school students, defeated the Kahuku High School freshman team 24-15 in the U14 championship final. The Kihei regional team beat Kahuku 20-15 in overtime to take the U12 crown.

On April 28, Maui will host an interisland tournament for older divisions.


‘Another Level’ basketball camp set

The “Another Level” basketball camp is set for June 5-8, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day, in Lahaina.

Sessions for boys and girls in the 3rd-5th grades will be held at Lahaina Civic Center, while the camp for those in 6th-12th grades will be at Lahainaluna High School.

The registration fee is $99. Scholarships are available.

Nakamura aces No. 8 at Pukalani

Jung Sook Nakamura of Wailuku had a hole-in-one on March 28 at Pukalani Country Club.

Nakamura aced the 138-yard eighth hole using a 7 wood. Witnesses were Yumyung Yoon and Zare Kim.


Rose has hole-in-one at Maui Nui

Gerry Rose of Maui hit a hole-in-one on Sunday at Maui Nui Golf Club.

Rose used an 8 iron to ace the 158-yard seventh hole. Witnesses were Carry Hishikawa, AC Imamura and Mitch Domingo.


Okuda records ace on No. 2 at Waiehu

Alvin Okuda of Wailuku made a hole-in-one at Waiehu Municipal Golf Course on Sunday.

Okuda used a 3 hybrid to ace the 139-yard second hole. The shot was witnessed by Marvin Nakamura, Craig Fukunaga and Allan Feiteira.
