The top three boats gunning for the top spot in Division 2 of the 2018 Vic-Maui International Yacht Race arrived in Lahaina on Sunday, with Turnagain taking line honors but Salient winning the title.

Turnagain completed the 2,308-nautical-mile race — which started July 1 in Victoria, B.C. — at 7:14 a.m. Salient finished 26 minutes behind, but won on time allowance.

Salient had led for a majortiy of the race, but a change of course slowly cost it line honors as the boats arrived at the entrance of the Pailolo Channel.

Following behind Salient was Kraken, which arrived at 8:04 a.m. Kraken also jumped over Turnagain for second place after taking time allowance into account.

Salient’s crew poses for a photo after arriving.

As of 9 p.m. Sunday, Anjo, OxoMoxo, Serenite had yet to arrive.

Division 1 competitors Firefly and Joy Ride finished the race Saturday, with Firefly taking line honors and Joy Ride winning the title due to time allowance.
