The Maui News
After racing for 11 days with less-than-ideal wind conditions, the 2018 Vic-Maui International Yacht Race looks to be at normal summer patterns as the race reached its 12th day, according to race officials.
Boats reported wind speeds between 13 and 18 knots as they continue the final stretch of the race.
At 4 p.m. Thursday, Firefly continued to lead the Division 1 race with 351 nautical miles to go to Lahaina — extending its lead over Joy Ride to 28 nautical miles.
In Division 2, Salient held a 26-nautical-mile lead over Kraken with 497 nautical miles to go, followed by Turnagain (550), OxoMoxo (679) and Anjo (630).
In the cruising class, Serenite was 669 nautical miles away.
Based on the tracker on vicmaui.org, Firefly and Joy ride are expected to arrive on Saturday.
