Chiarella tied for fourth at Mackenzie Tour Players Cup

Alex Chiarella, a Seabury Hall graduate, shot a 1-under-par 71 on Saturday to finish in a tie for fourth place after three rounds of the Mackenzie Tour Players Cup.

Chiarella, who won his third Maui Open title on Aug. 5, is three strokes behind leader Tyler McCumber, the tour’s leading money winner, at the Southwood Golf & Country Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The final round is set for today.

After the final two Mackenzie Tour tournaments in September, the top five Mackenzie Tour money winners will qualify for the Tour, which is one step below the PGA Tour.

The next five money winners gain partial Tour status.

Entering the tournament, Chiarella was 130th on the money list with $1,640, but a win today would vault him into the top 15.
